At the age of 15 I had my 14-year-old brother yanked from our lives due to cancer. Even though I didn’t fully understand what had happened because there were no awareness activities in the mid 80s, it weighed on my mind for years until I was able to do my own research and better comprehend the disease; and how quickly it had robbed us of such a young and vibrant soul. Knowing now that many cancers are treatable and some can even be avoided, I feel it’s my responsibility, along with other cancer soldiers to make sure as many people as possible; understand the disease and joint the fight against cancer. I don’t believe there is a greater responsibility that God can give us; than to do what we can to help save lives.

I am a proud #CancerSoldier are you?

We cannot always control everything that happens to us in this life, but we can control how we respond. We owe a debt to our families and friends who have paid the ultimate price for being in the cancer battlefield. We have to join the battlefield and fight cancer to ensure our great nation stays free.

In the 21st Century, social media has become a catalyst for the advancement of rights on a local and global scale and Eddah’s Hope fight against cancer is no exception. Inaction by our generation is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action Eddah’s Hope takes will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow.

We have to devote our lives to a good cause and be brave enough to take a stance, though it may be controversial. Our ultimate challenge and Eddah’s Hope finest hour, is that moment when we will have worked our hearts out and lie exhausted on the field of battle victorious. Join the Eddah’s Hope Army – #CancerSoilder

We are not measured by where we stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where we stand at a time of challenge. Cancer is and has always been a challenge but not for long. The greatest discovery of our generation is that a human being can alter his/her life by altering his/her attitudes and that’s what being a #CancerSoldier is about, change of attitude. We choose hope and endless possibilities of a cancer free generation.

The only way to make sense of change is to plunge into the flow with it and join the fight against cancer. Cancer is just a word, not a sentence.
