As usual, weekends are a day to sleep in for many people, however, last weekend, and Saturday 17th in particular was different for #TeamEddahsHope (as we’re now being refered to) and we met at Nakumatt Lifestyle a little after 10am…ok, guys started showing up at 11 am. We grabbed the largest trolley we could get our hands on. After about 30 mins of us going round and round undecided on what to buy, we were joined by some beautiful ladies who were coming with us for the visit (as an all male organization we had no idea what to buy and what not to) and we had some very nice insights (not to mention near disasters in what we’d have bought) and the queue we had at the till…fortunately wasn’t long and we were out in about 30 minutes.
The journey started and we were on our way and after taking a wrong turn (someone using faulty google maps or a ching-chong version for sure) we almost came back into the city, but quickly got the directions straight and were back on track in a short while…we were in Rironi Limuru in no less than 30 minutes. The little angels had already had their lunch and we’re already gearing up for their afternoon nap, but we were not to be left alone…the team of about 10 was quick to each grab a baby and soon all the babies were awake again.
We were quickly inroduced to the angels by their custodians, two young ladies, Wamaitha Mwangi & Waithera Njoroge who also gave us a little info on the home as well as the angels:
- Peter Njoroge – born July 2009
- Josephine Wambui – born August 2009
- Baby Nderitu – born August 2009
- Baby Martin – born May 2010
- Baby Nathaniel – born September 2010
- Baby Joy – born August 2010
- Baby Dennis – born March 2011
- Baby Sammy – born May 2011
- Baby Grace – born August 2011
- Baby Baraka – born August 2011
- Baby Imani – born September 2011
- Baby Alex – born December 2009
Out came the cameras, those of us on twitter were also not left behind…poses were struck, friendships with the babies cemented(some used bribery)…but the joy could only last so long, one by one, the angels gave in to the sand man and they fell asleep. Oh well, back to the drawing board…seeing as the weather was changing into a not-so-friendly one, we decided to offload our goodies & shopping.
After another round of quick paparazzi action, it was time to say our farewells. We’ll have to go back there sooner than soon. Looking forward to it already ![]()
