ABOUT US
We are Eddah’s Hope Cancer Foundation — a registered nonprofit organization, with the Non-Governmental board (Kenya) registered on the 23rd of May 2013 , under certificate number OP.218/051/13-031/8823, grounded in its belief that raising awareness and providing education about early cancer detection and prevention is the best way to keep the disease from taking lives. We also create positive & enriching life changing experiences for cancer fighters. We’ve been around since 2012, when a #cancersoldier by the name of Issaji Moussah started expressing himself on facebook about cancer, talking about how he felt about cancer and how he could help others battling and affected by this disease.
If Mama was here, she would have told you that life is way too short to let something like cancer get in the way of your aspirations and it is our goal to help you continue to appreciate all of the beautiful things that are happening around you.
We are a team who are committed to supporting cancer fighters in this battle and making the younger generation aware of the disease and how to go about it when it hits home.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Mama Eddah was diagnosed with breast cancer, and although she struggled in her fight against cancer, she continued to have the most positive outlook on life, taking care of her two sons and manage a smile through the pain. Mama Eddah was a single mother and a business woman. Even though she dealt, day-to-day, with the pain of cancer, she was firm that she deserved no more than anyone else, and never asked for sympathy. When mama passed away in 2012 at the age of 55.
It is through this tragedy that Eddah’s Hope was founded, with the aim of creating awareness towards cancer, to reducing the burden young people have to carry due to cancer.
HERE’S WHAT WE THINK.
Anyone who has been diagnosed with the disease can tell you that cancer is absolutely terrible, but what they’ll also say is that if you’re still able to appreciate what life has to offer, battling this disease becomes somewhat bearable. We agree, and it’s also what we strive to provide for people living with cancer and their families.
We are not here to help you focus on having cancer — we know what this disease does, and we don’t need to give it any more attention than it already has. Our vision is to create a cancer free African Generation. We’ll also work hard to make sure cancer doesn’t take any more lives or destroy any more families. It may seem like an unattainable goal, but we’re committed to it.
